How to Adjust the Home Position

This page will list the steps required to adjust the home position of the motion platform using CyScan. We assume that the user has a very good working knowledge of Windows and is quite familiar with CyScan.

Required Tools

Adjusting the Home Position

  1. Open the scanner configuration file in a text editor. The scanner configuration file is located in the '...\CyScan\cfg\' directory. This file will be of the format, XX-####-factory.txt.

  2. Place the scan subject onto the rotary table. For best results, a Cyberware calibration cylinder should be used.

  3. Launch CyDir.

  4. Press the green Scan button. This will open Guee, the program for controlling the scanner.

  5. Enable the appropriate script at the top of the Guee window.

  6. Set the number of scans to 8.

  7. Click on the green Open button to launch CyScan.

  8. Home the scanner by selecting the blue Home button.

  9. Press the green Scan button in the Guee window.

  10. When the scanning is complete, press the green Merge button to launch CyPie.

  11. In the CyPie window, click the green Auto Align button.

Note the pos: value at the bottom of the viewing area of the CyPie window. If this value is between -100 and +100, there is no adjustment required. If the value is outside these values, write down the value for pos and continue to the next step.

  12. Exit CyPie.

  13. Close CyScan using the red Close button in the Guee window.

  14. Exit CyDir.

  15. Turn off the power switch on the back of the Cyberware SCSI box.

  16. In the configuration file (opened in step 1), locate the value motion mx set posHome.

  17. Multiply the pos value from CyPie by .001. This will give you the amount of change that is required.

  18. Subtract the change value from the current posHome value.

  19. Replace the current posHome with the new value in the configuration file.

  20. Save the configuration file.

  21. Turn the power switch on the Cyberware SCSI box to the ON position.

  22. Repeat this procedure until the pos value is between -100 and +100.
