Import Data

This tutorial will demonstrate the process for opening existing scan files and saving them into the current project. We will import a Cyberware Echo scan and an edited PLY file for use in later tutorials.

File Import Setup

For this section of the tutorial, we will import a scan file that was acquired outside of the current scanning project.

1. Select 'Database | Import Manager...'

The Import Manager will appear on the monitor.

2. Verify that the Project Name and Project Type are correct. In this case, the Project Name should be "Whole Body Tutorial" while the Project Type should be "Whole Body".
3. Set the Source Folder by browsing to the "...\DigiSize\download\" folder:
   1. Press the Browse... button.

   2. Navigate to the "...\DigiSize\download\" folder.

   3. Press the Okay button.

CyScan File Import

For this section of the tutorial, we will import a scan file that was acquired outside of the current scanning project. You must complete the File Import Setup section (above) before you proceed.

1. From the Orientation pop-up, select Cyberware_iv.

2. Press the Import button.
3. When the import is complete, you should see the following dialog. Click the OK button to proceed.

4. To prepare for the remainder of the tutorials, add the sample database files to the current project by following this procedure:
1. Press the Browse... button.

2. Navigate to the "C:\digisize_databases\wb_cyberware_female_db\" folder.

3. Press the Okay button. This will import a single sample file, provided by Cyberware.

PLY File Import

For this section of the tutorial, we will import an edited PLY file that was acquired outside of the current scanning project. You must complete the File Import Setup section (above) before you proceed.

1. In the Import Manager window, select NIOSH_standard_ply from the Orientation popup menu.

2. Press the Import button.
3. When the import is complete, you should see the following dialog. Click the OK button to proceed.

4. Close the Import Manager.
5. Continue to classify the data.
