Import Data

This tutorial will demonstrate the process for opening existing scan files and saving them into the current project. We will import a Cyberware Echo scan and an edited PLY file for use in later tutorials.

Echo File Import

For this section of the tutorial, we will import a scan file that was acquired outside of the current scanning project.

1. Select 'Database | Import Manager...'

The Import Manager will appear on the monitor.

2. Verify that the Project Name and Project Type are correct. In this case, the Project Name should be "Head & Face Tutorial" while the Project Type should be "Head and Face".
3. Set the Source Folder by browsing to the "...\DigiSize\download\" folder:
   1. Press the Browse... button.

   2. Navigate to the "...\DigiSize\download\" folder.
   3. Press the Okay button.
   4. From the Orientation entry, select Cyberware_echo.

   5. Press the Import button.
   6. When the import is complete, you should see the following dialog. Click the OK button to proceed.

PLY File Import

For this section of the tutorial, we will import an edited PLY file that was acquired outside of the current scanning project.

1. In the Import Manager window, select SizeChina_ply from the Orientation popup menu.

2. Press the Okay button.
3. When the import is complete, you should see the following dialog. Click the OK button to proceed.

4. Close the Import Manager.
5. Continue to classify the data.
