Classify the Data

Database classify allows the user to review scan quality and identify any scans that should not be included in the project.

This tutorial will demonstrate how to classify the quality of a scanned subject. The instructions in this document apply to new scans and to previously saved scans that are included in the current project.

  1. Select 'Database | Classify...'
  2. [DigiSize - Database Menu]
    DigiSize - Database Menu

The Classify function displays a list of scan subjects from the current project database showing the key, scan date (yyyymmdd), and quality classification for each scan. Scan quality is set to unprocessed at the time a scan is saved. Scans must have been saved using the Scan Manager. Each scan can be viewed to check for any problems that may cause inaccurate measurements. Only those scans that are classified as good will be available for processing by functions such as Measurement Batch, Statistics, etc.

If there is a problem with the scan, such as movement, external light interference, incorrect scan pose, etc., the scan quality should be set accordingly. Refer to this section of the user guide for examples of some of the more common problems with a scan.. A sampling of the choices available in the drop down menu are:

    1. Clothing: Indicating a problem with the subject's clothing
    2. Glasses: Showing a problem with reflections or artifacts caused by the subject wearing glasses.
    3. Noise: Choose this descriptor if there is noise in the data, usually caused by ambient lighting conditions.
    4. Position: This selection indicates that the subject was improperly positioned.
    IMPORTANT:
Only those scans classified as good will be available for all other DigiSize functions.
  9. After selecting the appropriate quality setting from the pop up menu at the lower left of the window, ensure the scan is selected in the scan list, then click the Update Quality button.
