The View Menu provides the user with access to the various methods used to display the scanned data in the main window.

Use Original View to place the scan into the default position. This position is the same as when you first open a scan, using File | Open....
This menu selection places the current scan into the center of the Display Window. The object will also be set so that it fits entirely into the Display Window. Only the zoom level of the viewer will change. The orientation of the scan will change.
The illustration below shows how the Center View command changes the display of a scan. The picture on the left shows the orientation of a scan that was set by user interaction (User View). The centered scan is pictured on the right.

The Reset View item will reorient the current scan so that it is facing forward and fits completely within the main window.
The illustration below demonstrates the action of the Reset View command. The picture on the left shows the orientation of a scan that was set by user interaction (User View). The scan on the right shows the scan after the use of Reset View.

This menu selection will display a vertical line at the center of rotation for the scan. This display is helpful if you're having trouble centering a subject.
This selection ensures the quickest display of the current scan. Only a small subset of the actual number of data points are shown, so that the object can be repositioned very quickly, even on slower workstations.

The Points display method renders the scan data by drawing every point in the dataset.
This menu selection will display the current scan by drawing every point in the dataset, then connect them with line segments to form triangles.
The Textured Points selection in the View Menu will display every point in the scan, along with the color texture point that is associated with it.
This selection will render every data point in the dataset with the appropriate shading applied to those data points.
Flat shading will render the current dataset by shading all of the triangles in the current scan without the smoothing applied by selecting Smooth Shading.
IMPORTANT:
---
This drawing method is known to have some problems on some video display cards, so occasional program errors may occur.
This menu item will render the individual shaded triangles and will display them with a smoothed appearance.
For files that have an accompanying color texture file, the model will be shown in the Display Window with the color texture map overlaid onto the triangle mesh.
This display mode will shade the individual triangles in the model, then apply the color texture map to the shaded surface.
This display mode will hide the current scan. This mode is useful if the user is attempting to view only the points or line measurements that may have been made. Select any other drawing mode to display the object in the display window.
A view is the rendering of a scan. In this software there is only one view, and this one view has only one camera, one light, one drawstyle, one optical table and one scan to choose from.
The view controls dialog sets up the viewing preferences for the user. Most of the selections are strictly for use by Cyberware, however the background color and auto redraw commands are helpful to the end user.

View Controls
This selection determines the camera to be used to view the subject. It is for internal use only and is not user-definable.
The Light pop-up defines the light that is used to illuminate the subject in the main window. This control is for internal use only and is not user-definable.
For Internal Use Only. Not User-Definable.
This button will open a standard Windows color picking dialog box. The user can specify here the color that he/she would like to be used as the background color in the display window.
Pick any color from the palette or specify a color using the tools in the color picker, then press the OK button. The background color in the display window will be updated immediately.
The Auto Redraw toggle button will turn on/off the automatic redrawing of any data in the display window. Turning the automatic redrawing to off is helpful for users with slower graphics cards and slower processors. If the user chooses to turn off the automatic redraw feature (it is on by default), then the user must select the drawing mode from the View menu each time the orientation of the model in the display window is changed.
This button will close the View Controls window and effect any changes that the user made in the window prior to the close.
The draw style controls make suggestions as to how the document's data should be drawn in the display window. These controls attempt to override the data's inherent form. Not all data objects can be drawn as lines or as filled (a surface).
The user has the choices of; points, lines, filled, and invisible. These settings should not be used, but can be chosen by clicking on the appropriate menu item in the View Menu. For example, to draw the objects as points simply select Points from the View menu.
Small objects may not be drawn using all the resolution of the dataset. These three options help determine what is meant as a 'small' object:
In the software, points are rendered as squares. The value of this slider defines how many pixels wide and tall the squares are. Larger points may allow a user to get a better view of an object's shape while still in points display mode.
This variable is similar to Point Size, except it defines the width of drawn lines in the display window.
For faster rendering (e.g. - during mouse moves) some of the dataset's points, lines or faces will be skipped. This slider defines what percentage of the points, lines, or faces are to be drawn.
Faces (filled triangles) may not be drawn if they are facing away from the camera for rendering speed considerations. The software determines the direction that the filled triangles are facing by the order of the triangle's vertices in the dataset. This item states the order of visible faces (clockwise, counterclockwise or unknown). If unknown is selected then all triangles in the dataset are drawn.
This item is similar to the Vertex Order. Objects that are known to be true solids have a closed surface and the back-facing triangles cannot be seen. If type is unknown then all faces will be drawn.
Some rendering can be faster if the graphics drawing software knows that all of the polygons in the dataset are convex. CyScan draws only triangles, which are always convex. Object rendering in the display window may be adversely affected if unknown is selected here.
If surface normals have not been provided (this only occurs if the user has made specific changes in the document controls) the surface normals for the object will be computed. This process can be very time consuming, even on powerful graphics workstations. The value of this item controls which edges will not be rendered with smoothly blended normals. A value of 180 will result in no creases.
The Dismiss button will close this control panel and effect any changes that the user has made to the controls.
The display window requires a light to illuminate any shaded rendering. This control panel sets the light's color and intensity.

Light Controls
This checkbox turns the light in the display window on/off. Having the light turned off will affect all drawing modes, except for the Quick Points, Points and Textured Points modes.
The Color button will open the standard Windows color picker. Use the color picker to choose a color for the default light in the display window.
The intensity slider increases/decreases the intensity of the default light in the display window from a value of 0.0 to 1.0. The default value is 1.0.
The Dismiss button will close the Light Controls window and accept any changes that have been made by the user in the lighting setup.
This menu selection will toggle the view of the subject from Perspective (on) to Orthographic (off). Each display mode has benefits if the user is intent on examining the scan in detail.
Choose this menu item if you would like to see all camera views (for scanners with multiple digitizing heads) at one time. All of these views will be "facing" the same direction, making display of the individual cameras much easier to evaluate.
