All Cyberware scanners have been designed to run trouble-free with a minimum of regular maintenance.
There are few maintenance requirements for Cyberware motion platforms. All maintenance for the platform can be accomplished with tools provided by Cyberware (included with the digitizer) or with tools that are readily-available from any hardware store.
If a Cyberware digitizer has blown a fuse, refer to the table below to select the proper replacement fuse(s). The fuses listed below can be found at most any electronics or hardware retailer.

If the need arises to replace a fuse, simply open the fuse holder (located in the AC power input receptacle) using a small flat blade screwdriver. Then, pry the existing fuses from the holder and replace them with the appropriate new Slo-Blo fuses.

The cabling requires little maintenance if cared for properly. All cables should be covered and protected if they are exposed in any area where there is foot-traffic. Also, the cables should be periodically unseated, then reseated, to prevent the build-up of corrosion on the contact pins.
The linear rails (mounted horizontally and/or vertically) should not be lubricated, except under the direct guidance of Cyberware support. Special tools are required for this procedure. We recommend AFC Grease for lubrication. It is a specifically designed grease for anti-fretting corrosion. This grease is a high-quality synthetic oil, thickened with a urea compound. It has a consistency at 25°C of 60W: 270-310. The temperature range is from -54°C to 177°C. This grease is available from the distributor, THK.

The lead screw should be lubricated only when necessary, such as when the linear motion begins to exhibit excessive noise. To lubricate, simply apply a bead of the appropriate grease (below) to the lead screw. Then, perform the home routine several times to work the grease into the grooves of the lead screw.

The optics should be cared for diligently and often. Please note that the mirrors are front surface, quartz-coated mirrors and are easily scratched. Take extreme care when performing any maintenance on these parts. The entire digitizing head should be cleaned of dust using canned air whenever there is a noticeable collection of dust inside the device. Before spraying canned air into the digitizer aperture, it is helpful to open the side access panel of the digitizer head to allow an easy escape for any dust (3030 only).
There is an extensive alignment procedure that is done at the factory so that all the optics interact correctly. Normally no subsequent alignment is needed unless the system has undergone a great deal of shock. If the scanner has been damaged and realignment is necessary, the scanner head must be returned to the factory. Please contact Cyberware Support for further information.
From time to time, the user might need to zero the software. This procedure becomes necessary any time that the data starts to drift from acceptable limits. A typical example of this drift would be if a particular scan (and all subsequent scans) looks too tall and thin, or too short and wide. This behavior can be caused by a number of reasons, and is very easy to correct. Please consult the Zeroing Guide for complete instructions.
There is no routine cleaning required for any parts of the scanner or platform. However, situations may arise that would require cleaning of the optics (mirrors and/or lenses). Note that the mirrors are front surface type and are very easily scratched. They should be cleaned only if absolutely necessary. Place the dust cover on the scanner after each use to minimize the need for cleaning.
The performance is not affected by even considerable quantities of dust on the optics, but if used in locations with a high dust content, users may want to use a soft optical brush or optical cleaning compressed gas to remove dry dust. This should be done before using tissues and optical cleaner, as loose dust will scratch the mirrors when they are rubbed with a tissue.
Fingerprints should be cleaned from mirrors or lenses as soon as they are noticed. Fingerprints and other substances may be cleaned with a lens tissue dampened with a lens cleaner. Wash your hands well before attempting to clean the optics, because any skin oil will penetrate the tissue and streak the optics. Bunch a clean tissue into a puff shape, apply a drop of cleaner, and gently wipe the surface. Use the tissue for only a few wipes, throw it away, and then use another clean tissue.
