Software Updates

Listed in this document are a few steps that you need to follow in order to ensure an easy update process. Do not skip any step of this procedure or you may cause version conflicts within the software that can result in fatal errors.

Procedure
  1. Determine the version numbers for any software that you have installed:
    1. CyDir (including all of the components) and CySlice:
      1. Launch the program.
      2. Use the Left Mouse Button to click one time on the title bar of the program.

      3. The version number and build date will be displayed in the pop-up window.

      4. Click one time on the Continue button in the pop-up window when you are finished.

    2. For CyEdit+ and CySurf:
      1. Launch the program.
      2. The version number and build date will be displayed in the pop-up window.

      3. Click one time on the Continue button in the pop-up window when you are finished.

    3. For CyScan, I-Scan and CyScan:
      1. Launch the program.
      2. Select Help | About CyScan....

        The About CyScan window will now open and list the CyScan version (2008.01 in the illustration below).

      3. Click on the OK button one time when you are finished.
  2. Download the most recent version (if necessary) from the Current Version List.
  3. Backup your existing installation using this procedure:
    1. Copy the existing folders to a safe location, such as C:\TEMP\.
    2. Complete the software removal instructions.
    3. Close the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
  4. Use Windows Explorer to delete any remaining Cyberware software folders from your Program Files folder.
  5. Install the software according to the Software Installation Guides.

  6. Copy your keys file from the backup (at C:\TEMP\software\lib\keys.txt) to the newly installed ...\lib\ folder.
  7. Copy any configuration files from the backup (at C:\TEMP\Cyberware\CyScanÏg\ and C:\TEMP\Cyberware\CyScan\corr\) to the newly installed folders, if using a SCSI-based scanner. This step is not necessary if you are using a USB-based scanner.
  8. Restart your PC
  9. Test the new software. If you have any problems, consult the Troubleshooting Section of this user guide.
