Head & Face Scanner Disassembly
Many of the parts described herein are very heavy; care and proper equipment should be
used to put them in place. All of the parts contain either carefully aligned or sensitive
electronic assemblies. Take extreme care not to damage or jar the systems.
We highly recommend that you consult with Cyberware Support
before you begin the disassembly process.
Requirements
- 3 people
- M10 Hex Wrench
- M8 Hex Wrench
- 3/16" Hex Wrench
- Small Straight-Blade Screwdriver
- Adjustable Pliers
- Bungee Cord
- 3030 Shipping Box
- 4 Shipping Blankets (to use as padding for the vertical arm and the PS Motion Platform)
Procedure
- Power down the scanner.
- Unplug the power cord from the AC socket and from the power supply.
- Place the AC power cord into a shipping box.
- Disconnect the cable assembly from the back of the 3030 digitizer head.
- Disconnect the cable assembly from the horizontal arm.
- Place the cable into a shipping box.
- Remove the lights.
- Pad the lights and place them into a shipping box.
- Remove the centering guide using a 3/16" hex wrench. Be very careful not to make contact with the mirrors while performing this step.
- Put the screw back into the centering guide.
- Place the centering guide assembly into a shipping box.
- Remove the 3030 digitizer head:
| NOTE: |
| This is a very sensitive piece of equipment. Take great care in all procedures. Do not touch mirrors or their alignment systems. |
- Place the dust cover onto the scan head.
- Raise the scan head to the topmost position on the vertical arm.
- Two (2) people should stand and steady the scan head.
- The remaining person should remove the two (2) bolts from the mounting bracket using an M10 hex wrench.
- Package the bolts and mark them for later identification.
- Place the bolts into a shipping box.
- Carefully lift the head off of the mounting bracket and place it into an appropriate shipping crate.
- Close the shipping crate.
- Remove the vertical arm:
- Two (2) people should steady the vertical arm during this process. No pressure should be applied to the shock absorber, the mounting bracket nor linear rails.
- Place blocks under the vertical arm to relieve the stress and tension on the arm during the disassembly process.
- Remove the taper pins by pulling them out with pliers.
- Remove the eight (8) M10 Ã- 25 bolts.
- Package the bolts and taper pins and mark them for later identification.
- Place them into a shipping box.
- Move the vertical arm to a safe location.
- Place the vertical arm in a shipping crate with padding.
- Adjust the four (4) platform feet so that they are fully retracted into the leg that they support.
- Disconnect the power supply from the motion platform.
- Disconnect the motion and data cables from the power supply unit.
- Place the power supply into a shipping box.
- Using a bungee cord, secure the horizontal arm to a leg so that it does not shift. It
is helpful to secure the horizontal arm over the same leg that the power supply was
under before it was removed. The bungee can then be used to secure the cables that
previously ran to the power supply.
- Power down the workstation.
- Disconnect the SCSI device from the workstation (if this is a SCSI-based scanner).
- If necessary, place the SCSI box, SCSI power supply, and all of the cables (attached) into a shipping box.
- If necessary, reconfigure the SCSI chain that remains on the workstation ensuring proper termination.
- Seal all shipping boxes and mark them for easy identification.
- Transport the system to the new location. It is highly recommended that the 3030 digitizer head be transported by hand to the new location.
