This section contains a description of each public use command of the EchoTk software. The commands are found alphabetically except for commands which are closely related. These commands are described together and will be found under the name which has alphabetic precedence.
Three typefaces are used in the command descriptions. They have the following meanings:
| Normal | Narrative words which hopefully enlighten the reader. In some cases these words may completely confound the reader. |
| Italic | Words which describe an argument to a command. The actual text of the argument is to be supplied by the user. Some other words appear in italics, such as trademarks and words of special meaning. |
| Boldface | Words and letters which are to be typed verbatim. This includes command names and option names. |
| Courier | Literal examples of typed input or text output on the screen. |
Most options and arguments are optional. This is indicated by being enclosed in square brackets [arg] in the usage description. Some usage descriptions may contain a bar "|", this is not to be typed but rather indicates an exclusive choice. Choose one and only one of the bar separated list of options. In order to keep these usage descriptions easy to read, the use of brackets and other meta-language symbols has been simplified. Examine the supporting description and examples to understand the correct usage.
